DAT Student Ambassadors

Meet our Â鶹¹û¶³ DAT Student Ambassadors! These individuals were nominated by their peers and selected by the DAT faculty. For current students the Ambassadors serve as the voice of the students to the faculty, communicating any concerns (or successes) of the students as a whole. For prospective students the Ambassadors are available to answer questions about the DAT program from a student perspective. Feel free to reach out to any of these individuals with questions you may have about the DAT program!

Hollis Theard

Anticipated Graduation December 2026

theardh@moravian.edu

Hi, my name is Hollis Theard, and I am currently a secondary school outreach athletic trainer with Atrium Health based out of Charlotte, NC. I received my bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Elon University in 2010 before spending five years working at a small, private high school in Statesboro, GA, first as a graduate assistant through Georgia Southern University, then full-time through a local orthopedic group. My current position is as the sole athletic trainer at Gray Stone Day School, a charter school in Misenheimer, NC serving both middle and high school athletes.

I started the DAT program at Â鶹¹û¶³ in the spring of 2025 and am already so glad that I made the decision to continue my academic journey through Moravian. While I still enjoy working in the secondary school setting, I felt like the time was right to further my education, learn new concepts, and sharpen my clinical skills as I consider where athletic training may take me next. I specifically chose Moravian because of the broad nature of the curriculum, the impressive faculty, and the opportunity to pursue the dual DAT-MBA degree option.

Despite being in the program for a short time, I’ve already found the faculty to be extremely supportive and easy to work with, and I’ve enjoyed interacting with my fellow classmates. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and seeing how it will help me advance my career!

Superman Berrow

Anticipated Graduation August 2026

My name is Superman Berrow and I run my own clinic, B4 Club Therapy Human Performance and Wellness Center (Altoona, PA), which serves a wide variety of clients looking to keep active and mobile regardless of what stage of life they are in. In addition to running the clinic I provide industrial athletic training services to several companies in the area as well as overseeing athletic training services to a local high school. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2006 from the University of Kentucky and Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2008 from Shenandoah University. I started the Doctor of Athletic Training at Â鶹¹û¶³ in the Summer of 2024 because I wanted to become a better clinician and gain more information that I could use with my wide client base. I chose Moravian’s DAT program because it allows me to broaden my knowledge base while still working within the profession, as well as giving me an opportunity to pursue my MBA as well. During my first year I have already formed great relationships with both classmates and professors. Everyone within this program is supportive and only wants one another to succeed. As a student ambassador I look forward to talking with you and if you have any questions or concerns regarding anything I am more than happy to assist in any way I can.

DAT Alumni Ambassador

Kristin Funk Maguire

Maguire

My name is Dr. Kristin Funk Maguire and I received both a BS in Athletic Training (2003), MS in Exercise Science (2005) from East Stroudsburg University, and graduated from Moravian’s DAT program in 2021. My career started out in the high school setting at East Stroudsburg South High School and Pennridge High School respectively. I transitioned into the collegiate setting when I moved out to central Pennsylvania in 2010. I was the Geisinger outsourced athletic trainer to Bucknell University. There, I worked with football, men's and women's cross country, track and field and my last year with baseball. After Bucknell, I was an assistant athletic trainer at Bloomsburg University. While at Bloomsburg my main sport coverage was field hockey, women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, track and field, wrestling (DI) and baseball.

In May 2018, I stepped down to be a full-time mom. I continue to keep up my clinical practice through an internship with the Geisinger Musculoskeletal Institute (MSK). I have established a weekly manual therapy clinic where I assist area high schools with their patients, specializing in low back and manual therapy. I have also recently accepted a position back at Bloomsbury University.

I am originally from beautiful Bucks County Pennsylvania, specifically New Hope. I currently reside in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania with my husband Kevin and our two kids Kai and Kinsley.

I started Moravian’s Doctor of Athletic Training program in the Spring of 2018. As seasons changed in both my personal and professional life, I wanted to take advantage of my time away as a full-time athletic trainer to bridge knowledge gaps within my own clinical practice and to gain new knowledge in areas that I was not well versed in. Thus, creating my journey toward to an advanced degree in the field of athletic training.

I chose Moravian’s DAT program as it had checked off all the boxes I wanted in an advanced degree. The online format and ability to go part-time as needed paired nicely with the ever-changing environment of being a stay-at-home mom.  The weeklong summer in-person session allowed me the opportunity to interact with classmates and faculty and build lasting relationships both personally and professionally.  The diverse faculty teaching in the DAT program, who are experts in their particular course, not only enhanced my knowledge in those areas, but enabled me to expand my professional network. Lastly, Moravian’s DAT is student-driven allowing each student to individualize course load according to areas of interest, knowledge gaps and career goals. For me that was enhancing my ability, as a clinician, to critically think and assess patients in best practices and patient outcomes. In addition, this program has expanded my aptitude in the areas of leadership, health care administration and emerging practices within the field of athletic training.
