Qualifying Life Events
Other than during the annual Open Enrollment Period, you can only enroll in or make enrollment changes to a Health & Wellness Plan if you experience a qualifying life event. Changes must be made within 30 days of the qualifying life event (unless otherwise noted below).
Changing your benefits due to a qualifying life event?
- Update your benefit information in Employee Self-Service using this guide: How to change a benefit election SOP.
- (example: loss of benefits letter from spouse's employer, birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)
Qualifying Life Events

- Open Enrollment Period
- Marriage or divorce;
- Birth or adoption (or placement for adoption) of a child;
- Change in employment status, spouse or employee, that causes a gain or loss of Plan eligibility;
- Change in dependent child’s custody;
- Death of a spouse/ domestic partner or dependent;
- Any other event that changes the number of your dependents;
- Eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid or CHIP (60 days);
- Loss of eligibility for Medicaid or CHIP coverage (60 days);
- Determination of eligibility for Medicaid or CHIP premium assistance (60 days).
Domestic Partnership
Â鶹¹û¶³ recognizes domestic partnerships in their employee benefits. However, the employee and his/ her domestic partner will need to validate the domestic partnership with supporting documentation and signing of the following: Certification of Domestic Partnership.
